Foreign & Security Policy

The office is committed to fostering peaceful cooperation grounded in democratic values across the Korean Peninsula, Japan, and the wider Asia Pacific region. In a rapidly shifting geopolitical context marked by rising tensions and renewed emphasis on traditional security concerns, we work to create spaces for dialogue that bridge national, sectoral, and disciplinary divides.

Building on our commitment to feminist foreign policy, the programme seeks to integrate gender responsive and intersectional perspectives into both traditional and non traditional security debates. Rather than treating “green” and feminist approaches as separate or idealistic add ons, we embed them within core discussions on stability, resilience, and deescalation highlighting their relevance to contemporary foreign and security policy challenges.

Our work brings together policymakers, experts, activists, and underrepresented voices including women and individuals from diverse and often excluded backgrounds to broaden the scope of policy discourse. Through regional exchanges, partnerships between Asia and Europe, and a range of convening formats, we aim to close knowledge gaps, foster mutual understanding, and support more inclusive and forward looking approaches to diplomacy and security.

In doing so, the office contributes to reshaping foreign and security policy conversations in East Asia advancing perspectives that are not only strategic and cooperative, but also inclusive, sustainable, and attuned to the complex realities of the region.
